Game 2: First Taste of Adversity

Coming into Saturday’s game at Fujieda City General Sports Park, AC Nagano Parceiro had not had much success against FC Fujieda. Each team won week 1 in exciting fashion.

Week one’s star for Parceiro, Miyamoto Takuya, was inactive for the game because he is on temporary loan from Fujieda.

In week 1, Parceiro got off to a slow start. In week 2, they came out firing, with Naoki Sanda, last season’s top goal scorer, taking a shot in the second minute of the game. Goalkeeper Yatagai Soki also continued his good form from last week. Soki had a very impressive block at 25 minutes. However, he soon had to leave the game at 32 minutes. Reserve goalkeeper Kim Min-ho would get his first game action.

It was a troubling turn of events for Nagano. Soon after coming into the game, Kim had a one-on-one test, when forward Tomoyuki Doi defeated defender Hayato Ikegaya.

Kim charged Doi, but Nagano supporter’s worst fears came true when Doi easily put the ball in the back of the net putting Fujieda up 1-0. It would be up to Nagano’s defense and midfield to regain control of the game.

Nagano survived the first half without giving up another goal. In the second half, they did a good job controlling the ball and creating some chances.

At 52 minutes, Kim Min-ho made a beautiful leaping block to his left, redeeming himself of his earlier miss. It was a game-changing play.

At 68 minutes, Duke Carlos came into the game, but was unable to make the instant impact that he made last week.

At 80 minutes, Carlos proved his toughness in a physical exchange near Nagano’s goal that resulted in a yellow card for Fujieda’s Suzuki Jun.

Less than five minutes later, Nagano was on the attack when a foul in the penalty area gave Parceiro a chance to even the score.

It was unclear who coach Stalph would select to take the Penalty. In the end, he went with the young star Duke Carlos who scored the goal with confidence tying the score 1-1.

That would be the final score of the game. It was a good result on a day when AC Nagano Parceiro had to overcome controversy and rely on their backup goalkeeper.

The next game will be the home opener against Kamatamare Sanuki on Sunday March, 27 at U-Stadium. The home fans will have high expectations.
